Known issues on the 1993 323. On certain 1993 323 vehicles with front-seat automatic shoulder belts, a worn rail could trap the buckle's retracting cable and put the belt out of use; failed belts were replaced with a modified assembly, and rails on working belts were inspected and swapped for modified ones if outside the criteria. That is one of 2 recalls; the other, also for certain vehicles, involved grease at the ignition switch contact points that could conduct current and overheat, a fire risk, and dealers fitted a new switch.
