Known issues on the 1992 323. Of the 15 complaints about the 1992 323, 12 concern seat belts, and 2 reported an injury and 1 a crash. Belts also figure in one of the 2 recalls: on certain vehicles with front-seat automatic shoulder belts, the belt rail could wear until the cable pulling the buckle back jammed, disabling the belt. Dealers fitted a modified belt assembly where one had failed and otherwise checked the rails, fitting modified rails where they exceeded the inspection criteria. The other covered certain vehicles whose ignition switch contacts carried grease that could turn conductive and overheat, a fire risk; the switch was replaced.
