Known issues on the 1992 Cougar. Three recalls are recorded. On cars fitted with fog lights, a circuit breaker that opens can make the headlights flicker and then go out for a spell, leaving the driver without light. Fuel lines that move in service can work the nylon tubing until it leaks, producing dampness and fuel odor and a fire if an ignition source is present. The third is an ignition switch that can short internally and smoke in the steering column. Exterior lighting also leads the 123 complaints at 28, ahead of engine and engine cooling at 20 and the brakes at 13.
