Known issues on the 1989 Lancer. One recall is recorded for the 1989 Lancer. It covered certain 1989 Lancer cars whose valve cover gasket could slip out of position and leak engine oil, which could ignite in the engine compartment; a revised cover sealed with RTV replaced the gasket. Owners filed 2 complaints, one on the gasoline fuel system and one on seats, and among them 1 reported a crash, 1 a fire and 1 an injury.
