1986 Dodge Lancer Service and Repair Manual

Known issues on the 1986 Lancer. A pair of recalls was filed against the 1986 Lancer. Certain 1986 Lancer cars with a specific engine could seep fuel in low temperatures at the joints where the engine-bay supply hose meets the pressure regulator and fuel rail, a fire hazard near an ignition source; the regulator was moved and a formed hose rerouted. On certain cars fitted with batteries from a single supplier, plastic flashing could block the cap vents, letting gas pressure build to the point that the case could burst, especially after charging; dealers cleared the vents. Owners filed 14 complaints: engine and engine cooling 4, electrical system, hydraulic brakes and steering 3 each, and gasoline fuel system 2. One complaint reported a fire.
