Known issues on the 1989 Suburban. Four recalls stand on the federal record. One involves seat recliner joints assembled over foam or vinyl, which leaves the bolts under-torqued, loosens the joint and eventually breaks the fastener, letting a seat back drop rearward without warning. Another covers brake rotors that can corrode apart where the steel center meets the cast outer section. A third concerns transmission fluid forced out of the vent tube by heat, and a fourth a replacement fuel filter that can leak at its seal.
