Known issues on the 1989 Corsica. Six recalls sit on the federal record. The gravest describes styled steel wheels that crack where the spokes meet the rim until a spoke separates and the wheel can leave the vehicle, taking steering and braking with it. Another covers front seat frames with a missing or misplaced weld that can fracture and let the seat shift under the occupant. Two more concern restraints: latch plates that will not engage their buckles, and shoulder belt retractors slow to lock. Of 82 complaints, seat belts lead with 17, ahead of the electrical system at 16 and vehicle speed control at 8.

IN EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, UNBELTED OR IMPROPERLY BELTEDOCCUPANTS ARE MORE AT RISK TO INJURY
Remedy
REPLACE IMPROPERLY FUNCTIONING BUCKLE ASSEMBLIES.
A FUEL TANK LEAK COULD OCCUR DUE TO SMALL CREASES ON THE TANK UNDERSIDE CRACKING DURING PRESSURE CYCLING WHICH OCCURS DURING NORMAL OPERATION.
Consequence
IN PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, THIS CONDITION COULDRESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy
REPLACE FUEL TANK.
