Known issues on the 1987 Corsica. Seven recalls stand on the federal record for this year, and most concern things coming loose. Several cover a secondary hood latch that can be bent or blocked so the primary latch never fully engages, letting the hood rise into the windshield at speed; one covers a skid plate whose loss can release both latches at once. A door hinge can break as the door swings, weakening the side of the car. A replacement fuel filter can seal poorly at its connection and leak toward an ignition source. Just two owner complaints are logged, both on the structure, which the body and latch procedures here address.

INSPECT AND REPLACE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH ASSEMBLIES AS REQUIRED.
A DOOR HINGE (UPPER OR LOWER) MAY BREAK WHILE OPENING OR CLOSING THE DOOR MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO REPOSITION AND CLOSE PROPERLY.
Consequence
HINGE SEPARATION MAY REDUCE THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OFTHE SIDE OF THE CAR AND INCREASE RI

REPLACE DOOR HINGES ON BOTH DOORS.
PART OF PUSHBUTTON ATTACHMENT OF HEADLIGHT SWITCH MAY FRACTURE.
Remedy
INSTALL NEW HEADLIGHT SWITCH.
SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MAY NOT PROPERLY ENGAGE DUE TO CONTACT WITH SUPPORT BRACKET AND/OR THE PRIMARY LATCH RETURN SPRING.
