1986 Ford LTS9000 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1986 Ford LTS9000 lists four diesel engines for the medium conventional tractor and straight truck, both offered in Base trim alone. Three of them are turbocharged inline-sixes at 10.0L, 14.6L and 14.0L; the fourth is the 9.0L V6 of 552 cubic inches, which runs without a turbocharger. The manual's specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are divided by engine, so the figures for the V6 never get mixed up with those for the big sixes.

Known issues on the 1986 LTS9000. One recall is recorded against this model year. It concerns hand throttle controls that carried no identification on the control knob or the instrument panel, contrary to the federal standard governing controls and displays. NHTSA holds no owner complaints for the truck. Because the throttle control and its linkage belong to the engine side of the vehicle, the relevant adjustment procedures, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are found in the sections this manual gives to that system.
HAND THROTTLE CONTROLS WERE NOT IDENTIFIED EITHER ON THE CONTROL KNOB OR ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AS REQUIRED BY FMVSS 101.
