Known issues on the 1986 New Yorker. Four recalls apply to the 1986 New Yorker. On certain 1986 New Yorker vehicles with a particular engine fitment, cold-weather fuel leaks could develop at the supply hose joints to the regulator and fuel rail. Certain 1986 New Yorker vehicles with batteries from one supplier could have vents plugged by plastic flashing, so gas pressure might build and burst the case; the vents were probed open. On certain cars with the optional power-adjusted bucket or split front seats, a replacement driver cushion that may have carried the wrong brace could stress the seat frame enough to crack it. Of 12 complaints, 4 involve the electrical system and 1 reported a fire. Expect procedures, specifications, wiring diagrams and diagnostics for the fuel system, battery and seats.
