1985 Chevrolet C15 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1985 Chevrolet C15 is a two-trim, three-engine book. Cheyenne and Custom are the trims; the engines are the 4.8L inline-six of 292 cubic inches, the 5.7L V8 of 350 cubic inches and the 4.1L inline-six of 250 cubic inches, all overhead-valve, naturally aspirated and gasoline-fueled, all in a two-door standard cab pickup. Where the sixes and the V8 differ, in ignition timing, valve adjustment and accessory drive work, each is given its own specifications, torque figures and diagnostic sequence.

Known issues on the 1985 C15. Owner reports for this year are few: two complaints, both on the fuel system. The fuel chapter is correspondingly worth knowing, covering tank and sending unit removal, line routing and inspection, pump testing with the pressure and volume figures to check against, and the diagnostic sequence for flooding, starving and hot-restart symptoms. Beyond that the manual runs the length of the truck, with engine clearances and torque sequences for all three engines, transmission and axle service, brake and steering adjustment, and wiring diagrams for the lighting, charging and starting circuits.
