1984 Chevrolet C20 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1984 Chevrolet C20 serves three body configurations with a six-engine range behind them. The bodies are the two-door standard cab pickup, the four-door crew cab pickup and a two-door cab and chassis. Both inline-sixes, at 250 and 292 cubic inches, are listed, as are the 5.0L, 5.7L and 7.4L gasoline V8s and the 6.2L diesel V8 of 379 cubic inches, all naturally aspirated. Custom, Scottsdale and Silverado are the trims, so the first step in any job is establishing which configuration and which engine the truck actually has.

Known issues on the 1984 C20. One recall stands for this year, covering a replacement oil filter whose seal can fail and let engine oil out, with fire the risk described. Four owner complaints have come in, one each on the electrical system, tires and the service brakes and too few between them to establish a pattern. The manual is the better guide: lubrication and oil pressure specifications, wiring diagrams with circuit tests, wheel and tire fitting torque, and brake lining, drum and hydraulic specifications with the bleeding sequence to follow.
