Known issues on the 2024 Kona. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the 12-volt battery cables, which may chafe against the engine control module bracket and short circuit during a crash — a short circuit increases the risk of an engine compartment fire. The second covers the seat belt assemblies in the right and left rear seats, which may not function properly, and a seat belt that does not function properly may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2024 Kona vehicles. The seat belt assemblies in the right and left rear seats may not function properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 208, "Occupation Crash Protection" and 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies."
Consequence
A seat belt that does not function properly may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt retractor as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 21, 2023. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 250.
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2024 Kona vehicles. The 12-Volt battery cables may chafe against the engine control module bracket and short circuit during a crash.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2024 Elantra, Venue, and Kona vehicles. An electrical short circuit may occur in the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve assembly, which can result in a loss of drive power.
Consequence
A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the exhaust gas recirculation valve assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 28, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 260.

I was driving at night and my passenger was trying to pull up the maps on the touchscreen dash and the headlights shut off and the whole dash including the speedometer and rpm Guage shut off for less than 10 seconds it all went off and came back on on its own.

Twice my car wouldn't come on at all. The first time they put a new battery in even though I had it only 2 weeks and it's a 2024. The second time was today. The engine would not come on. My inside lights were blinking but the car wouldn't start. The lights went out on the inside but when I went outside the car, my outside light were blinking real fast. The dashboard lights, HUD and exterior lights all have been turning off for 4-5 seconds every 6-8 weeks for the last 14-15 months. The brake and accelerometer remain active but because of the situation it presents every time, all that can be done is stray straight and try to look for a safe lane change.
