Known issues on the 2018 SQ5. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year. A gateway control module can shut down after liquid intrusion, suddenly cutting engine power. Brake caliper pistons with insufficient coating can reduce braking performance. The wheel arch cover trim may loosen and detach, becoming a road hazard, and the rear wheel arch cover trim is subject to a separate recall for the same detachment risk. A short brake master cylinder casting can cause a sudden loss of brakes, though the electronic parking brake's emergency function still works.
