Known issues on the 2017 Transit Custom. Eight recalls are recorded federally for the 2017 van. Two were filed by mobility converters over wheelchair lifts whose platform can stop above the vehicle floor, allowing a user to tip inward while exiting; one covers trailer tow modules corroded by water ingress, with an electrical short as the consequence; and several more involve foldaway seat backs that can move in a crash. Owners have filed 98 complaints with NHTSA, 37 of them on the power train, nine on the electrical system and four on the structure.
