Known issues on the 2016 Outlander Sport. Eight recalls are on record. Certain 2016 Outlander Sport vehicles have inside door latches that might not hold securely in hot weather, letting a door swing open while driving. On certain vehicles, the rust-proof coating on the rear brake operating shafts may have been scraped off during assembly, so water could corrode them and keep the parking brake from fully engaging, with a rollaway risk; dealers replaced the rear caliper assemblies. Possibly faulty relays in certain vehicles could stall the engine or cause overheating. Owners filed 25 complaints, 7 each on the engine and power train; 1 reported a crash and 1 an injury.
