Known issues on the 2013 5500. NHTSA has filed nine recalls against the 2013 5500. Certain 2013 Ram 5500 trucks were subject to a lug nut torque figure set too high in published documents, which could break studs and let a wheel separate; dealers corrected the figure, inspected the studs and replaced them where needed. Certain trucks with a 220-amp alternator could suffer sudden alternator failure and stall. On certain trucks with the 6.7L turbo diesel, Concentric-brand water pumps built without a vent hole could leak coolant and create an engine compartment fire risk.
