Known issues on the 2012 MKX. One recall applies to the 2012 MKX. On certain vehicles built within a defined production window, a retaining circlip on the halfshaft might not have been seated, letting the shaft slide out of the linkshaft while driving. Drive to the wheels would then be lost, and if the parking brake were not set the vehicle could roll even in Park. Dealers checked the retention and, where it was not secure, replaced the linkshaft, and the halfshaft too if its splines were damaged. The 84 complaints logged cluster on service brakes (26), the electrical system (17) and the power train (11); 2 complaints reported a crash and 2 an injury.
