Known issues on the 2011 GL450. On the 2011 GL450, air bags account for 34 of the 53 owner complaints, well ahead of suspension at 8 and the electrical system at 4. Three of those complaints reported a crash, two a fire and one an injury, and the 2011 GL-Class line has two further complaints, both citing steering. The three recalls for this year include one for certain vehicles whose driver air bag inflator could rupture and two for certain vehicles where a corroding brake booster housing could degrade or defeat braking; owners were instructed to leave those vehicles undriven until a dealer had inspected the booster.
