2010 BMW X6 Service and Repair Manual

This factory service and repair manual for the 2010 BMW X6 has more hardware to account for than most: three turbocharged gasoline engines, a 3.0L inline-six, a 4.4L V8 and a 4.4L V8 full hybrid, spread over six trims, from xDrive35i through the ActiveHybrid to the M, all in the one four-door sport utility body. The hybrid puts a different powertrain into that same shell, so a procedure that looks universal often is not, and the version has to be settled before the work starts.

Known issues on the 2010 X6. Nine recalls are on the federal record. Several address frontal air bag inflators that can burst as their propellant degrades and throw metal into the cabin. One is a windshield bonded over too short a length, which weakens the roof structure in a rollover. Others cover a fuel pump connector that can melt from a poor crimp, leaking fuel or stalling the engine, and an auxiliary water pump circuit board that can overheat and start a fire under the hood. Owners logged 19 complaints, six on the engine, three each on the electrical system and power train, the systems these procedures diagnose.
