Known issues on the 2007 SL550. The 2007 SL550 carries one recall of its own, covering certain cars whose control units were given the wrong software configuration at a service visit; the result could be lost drive power, weaker exterior lighting or no stability and traction control. Separately, NHTSA filed a recall against the 2007 R230-chassis models: certain cars with Active Body Control acceleration sensors on the front struts had solder joints out of tolerance, so the two front struts could level unevenly. Of 15 owner complaints, 6 cite service brakes and 3 the electrical system; 3 complaints reported a fire. The 2007 SL-Class line drew one further complaint, on the power train. Brake, electrical and suspension diagnostics here trace each system.
