2006 GMC C4500 Topkick Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2006 GMC C4500 Topkick applies to a two-door conventional cab and chassis, a crew cab and chassis and a cutaway, sold under six model codes. The engine choice is between the turbocharged 6.6L diesel V8 and the naturally aspirated 8.1L gasoline V8, and almost everything about their service — fueling, cooling, overhaul specifications, diagnostic method — differs. The manual keeps those apart and covers the shared chassis and electrical systems with procedures, torque values and wiring diagrams.

Known issues on the 2006 C4500 Topkick. Two recalls are on record, both of them for equipment fitted to the chassis rather than parts of it. One describes an aftermarket wheelchair-lift interlock whose protection diode can fail under a voltage spike, allowing the vehicle to move with the lift deployed; the other, an aftermarket rear air suspension with a lateral control bracket that has cracked in service, hurting handling. NHTSA holds four owner complaints, single reports on the engine, on visibility and on the service brakes. Engine, lighting and brake coverage here carries the specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics for all three.
