Known issues on the 2006 Ranger. All eight recalls on the federal record for the 2006 Ranger concern frontal air bag inflators. Driver and passenger side units could explode when the bag deployed and strike occupants with metal fragments, and two of the campaigns were serious enough that Ford asked owners not to drive the trucks until they were repaired; later campaigns supersede the earlier ones with a final repair. Owners have logged 271 complaints with NHTSA, 172 of them about air bags, followed by the suspension at 19 and the body structure at 18. Air bag module removal, wiring diagrams and suspension procedures in this manual cover that ground.
