This factory service and repair manual for the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 HD comes down to one engine, one body and one trim. The engine is the 364-cubic-inch 6.0-liter V8, overhead-valve and naturally aspirated on gasoline; the body is a four-door crew cab pickup; the trim is LT. Nothing in the book is conditional on equipment level, so the procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics describe exactly one truck from the engine bay through to the body circuits.

Known issues on the 2006 Silverado 1500 HD. Eight recalls are logged against this year. Most cover replacement lamp assemblies sold without amber side reflectors, so a truck wearing them is harder to see from the side after dark. One covers a trailer adaptor wired incorrectly, leaving a trailer's lamps unresponsive to the driver's signals and brake pedal. Another concerns a fuel rail pulse damper whose retainer clip can fracture and release the damper, with fuel escaping where it may find an ignition source. Complaints number 776 — 314 on the service brakes, 73 electrical, 69 on the power train.
