Known issues on the 2001 Silverado 1500 HD. Eight recalls are recorded against this model year, and seven of them are lamp recalls: replacement assemblies sold without the amber side reflectors a truck needs to be seen from the side, or with beams that put light outside the pattern the standard allows. The eighth is mechanical — a crankshaft position sensor that can drop in and out or stop working altogether, leaving the engine rough, then stalled, then unwilling to restart. Complaints total 1,841: 821 on the service brakes, 188 on the engine and cooling, 98 on tires.
