Known issues on the 2006 Rainier. NHTSA holds 7 recalls for the 2006 Rainier. Several target the driver's door module on certain 2006 Rainier vehicles: fluid could seep in and corrode its circuit board until it shorted, disabling the window and lock switches and, in the worst case, overheating enough to start a fire even with the vehicle parked; dealers are to check the module and replace it where needed. Another recall addressed a headlamp driver module on certain 2006 Rainier vehicles that could overheat and leave the headlamps and daytime running lamps dark. A third covered certain 2006 Rainier vehicles that left the factory with tire and loading labels showing the wrong capacity weight; owners received corrected labels. Owners logged 91 complaints, led by the gasoline fuel system (25) and electrical system (17); 1 complaint reported a crash and 5 a fire.
