Known issues on the 2005 C230. Four recalls name the 2005 C230. The most serious covered certain C230 Kompressor cars whose driver frontal air bag inflator could burst during deployment and throw metal pieces at occupants; dealers replaced the module. The other three address the glass sunroof, which on certain cars could be poorly secured or lose its adhesive bond and fall away. NHTSA also filed two recalls against the 2005 C-Class line, one for certain vehicles equipped with sport steering wheels whose air bags fell short in occupant protection tests. Air bags lead the 85 complaints with 49; 11 complaints reported a crash, 7 reported an injury and 6 reported a fire.
