Known issues on the 2005 GX 470. One recall is on federal record for this model year, and it covers the side and window air bags: the air bag control module may be improperly programmed, causing the side curtain-shield air bags to deploy inadvertently, and an unexpected deployment can increase the risk of occupant injury. Owners have filed 33 complaints for the year, while no technical service bulletins are on record for it. The diagnostic and repair procedures behind that system are here.
Whether you are chasing a curtain air bag fault, working the 4.7L V8 through a service interval, or verifying a torque figure, it holds you to the OEM procedure and the correct specification for this 2005 GX 470.
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2003-2006 Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX470, 2005-2006 Toyota Tundra and Sequoia, 2004-2006 Toyota 4Runner and Lexus GX470 vehicles equipped with side curtain-shield-air bags. The affected vehicles have an air bag control module that may be improperly programmed, causing the side curtain-shield-air bags to deploy inadvertently.
If the side curtain-shield-air bags deploy unexpectedly, it can increase the risk of occupant injury.
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the air bag control module with one that has improved programming, free of charge. The recall began on December 1, 2016. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-271-9371. Toyota's number for this recall is G0C and GLB.

MY DASH HAS CRACKED ALL OVER THE COMPLETE DASH , NOT A SMALL PART , ALL OF IT . I WAS NOTIFIED A YEAR AGO AND IT IS STILL NOT REPLACED . YOU SHOULD NOT ALLOW THIS TO GO THIS LONG AND THEN AN ISSUE WITH AN AIRBAG CAME IN THE MAIL AND IT TOO HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED ! NOW THE NEWS SAYS I LIVE IN A DAMP AND HUMID AREA SO DOES THIS MEAN I AM IN MORE DANGER ? WHY ARE THEY NOT REPAIRING THESE PROBLEMS AND WHY IS THE NHTSA NOT HELPING US?

MY 2005 LEXUS GX 470 HAS HAD 3 DOOR ACTUATORS REPLACED ALREADY, AND THE 4TH DOOR ACTUATOR JUST WENT BAD, ALONG WITH 1 OF THE 3 THAT HAD JUST BEEN REPLACED. THE DOOR ACTUATORS ARE WHAT UNLOCK THE AUTOMATIC DOORS. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE ONLY DOOR THAT OPENS WITH A KEY IS THE DRIVER DOOR. IF SOMEONE NEEDED TO ENTER THE CAR QUICKLY TO ASSIST SOMEONE AT ANY LOCATION OTHER THAT THE DRIVER LOCATION, IT COULD CAUSE A PROBLEM. THIS OCCURS ON A DAILY BASIS AND I SUSPECT I'M NOT THE
MY 2005 GX470 HAS HAD 69,000 TROUBLE FREE MILES UNTIL YESTERDAY. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND CALLED ME WITH THE REPORT OF THE VSC AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON. DASH BOARD HAS BEGUN TO CRACK. CONCERNED THERE WOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE AIR BAGS WERE DEPLOYED. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR THE LEXUS 03-09 IN THE GX MODEL AND ALSO THE RX MODEL. LEXUS IS FULL AWARE OF THE ISSUE, BUT HAS HAPPENED AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED. *JS
Bought the vehicle new and has always been maintained by a dealer and mostly garage kept. We took it in to a local garage owner for air conditioning repair and he says we have a bigger problem and do we want to spend the money. The frame under the car is rusted through to the point of possibly snapping in half. We climbed under the car to confirm and took pictures. No warning, no recall and never a word from a dealer. I contacted Lexus and all they would say is there are no recalls for this veh
