Known issues on the 2005 Santa Fe. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year, and both concern the air bag system: one was filed against the frontal air bags, the second against the air bag system more broadly. Both describe the same defect. On certain vehicles equipped with an occupant classification system (OCS), the right front seat may misclassify certain small children seated on the front edge of the seat as an adult. Owners have filed 300 complaints for the year and Hyundai has issued 45 technical service bulletins. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From diagnosing the occupant classification system in the right front seat to routine service on any of the three factory engines, it keeps you on the procedure and specification Hyundai set for your specific 2005 Santa Fe.
