This factory service and repair manual for the 2005 Chevrolet Optra has three body styles to account for and only one engine. The sedan, hatchback and wagon all use the same naturally aspirated 2.0L inline-four of 122 cubic inches with double overhead camshafts, and all were sold in Base and LS trim. That makes the engine, fuel and driveline chapters common ground, while body panels, rear glass, load area trim and the wiring reaching into it are the sections a technician has to match to the shape on the lift.

Known issues on the 2005 Optra. One recall stands on the federal record for this year. It describes a splice pack in the instrument panel harness that can melt, leaving the headlamp low beams or the daytime running lights inoperative and the car much harder to see. Six complaints are on record, three of them on exterior lighting and one each on the air bags and the electrical system, the same territory. Harness routing, splice locations, lamp circuits and the diagnostic steps for each are laid out in the wiring section of this manual.
ON CERTAIN VEHICLES LOCATED IN GUAM AND SAIPAN, THE HEADLAMP LOW BEAM OR DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT (DRL) FUNCTION MAY BE INOPERATIVE DUE TO A MELTED SPLICE PACK (S201) ON THE IP HARNES
Consequence
INADEQUATE LIGHTING COULD REDUCE VISIBILITY OF THE VEHICLE INCREASING THE RICK OF A CRASH.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL CHANGE THE HEADLAMP LOW BEAM SPLICING TYPE AND SEPARATE IT FROM SPLICE PACK 2
