The 2004 Jaguar XK8 was built in two body styles, a Base Coupe 2-Door and a Base Convertible 2-Door, and both sit on the same 4.2L V8 Gas engine, so the clearances, torque values and repair sequences that apply to your car are the ones Jaguar published for the 2004 model year and this engine rather than numbers carried across from an adjacent year.

Known issues on the 2004 XK8. One recall is on federal record for this model year, and it sits in the gasoline fuel system. It covers certain replacement fuel filters, Fram brand P/N G3727, with date codes X52911 through X60801 sequentially or X600141 and a Mexico country-of-origin marking on the fuel filter housing, manufactured from October 18, 2005 through March 21, 2006 and sold for use on the vehicles named in the campaign. The connector on those fuel filters was not manufactured to Honeywell's specification, and as a result the O-ring may not seat correctly on the fuel line. That condition may cause an inadequate seal at the connection, potentially leading to a fuel leak, and in the presence of an ignition source a fire could occur. No owner complaints are logged for the year.
From checking a fuel line connection after a filter change to a scheduled service on the 4.2L V8, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the right specification for your 2004 XK8.
