Known issues on the 2002 XK8. One recall is on federal record for this model year, covering the fuel system: certain replacement fuel filters were built with a connector that does not meet spec, so the O-ring may not seat correctly on the fuel line, which can allow an inadequate seal at the connection, a fuel leak, and, near an ignition source, a fire. THERE IS A COMMON THROTTLE BODY FAILURE IN 2002 JAGUARS. WHEN THIS FAILURE OCCURS, THE CAR GOES INTO "FAIL SAFE" MODE AND REDUCES SPEED TO 30 MPH, CREATING A HAZARD ON HIGHWAYS WITH LIMITED ACCESS.
