Known issues on the 2004 Avalanche 2500. Six recalls attach to the year. The fuel rail pulse damper's retainer clip can fracture, and a damper no longer held in place can leak fuel over a hot engine. Two others are brake booster problems — an accumulator that can crack and separate from the hydro-boost assembly, and an out-of-tolerance relief valve bore that can split its O-ring seal and stiffen the steering during braking. Tailgate cables, second-row belt routing and a replacement fuel filter complete the list. Of 319 complaints, 103 are electrical and 77 concern service brakes.
