2004 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 pares the trim list to three — Base, Z66 and Z71 — on the four-door crew cab pickup, with the naturally aspirated 5.3-liter overhead-valve V8 of 325 cubic inches, gasoline or flex-fuel, as the sole engine. The narrower range does not narrow the work: the book still carries full engine mechanical and management procedures, transmission and driveline service, brake and suspension specifications with torque values, and complete wiring diagrams for the truck's body and equipment.

Known issues on the 2004 Avalanche 1500. Six recalls appear federally. Two are brake booster failures: a hydraulic booster accumulator that can crack and separate from the assembly under normal operation, and an out-of-specification relief valve bore that can fracture its O-ring seal and make the truck harder to steer while braking. A fuel rail pulse damper retainer clip can also fracture, letting the damper loosen and leak fuel. Tailgate cables can corrode and break, and second-row belt routing and a replacement fuel filter account for the rest. The electrical system leads 319 complaints at 103, brakes at 77.
