2003 GMC C5500 Topkick Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2003 GMC C5500 Topkick is written for a chassis that was sold four ways. A crew cab and chassis, a motorhome cutaway, a cab and chassis cutaway and a 2-door conventional cab and chassis all appear, spread across four trim codes. Two engines are listed: a turbocharged 6.6L overhead-valve V8 diesel of 403 cubic inches and a naturally aspirated 8.1L overhead-valve V8 gasoline engine of 496 cubic inches. Procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are given by system for both.

Known issues on the 2003 C5500 Topkick. Two owner complaints are held by NHTSA for the 2003 C5500 Topkick, one on the power train and one on the suspension. Those are thin numbers, but they land on two systems a medium-duty chassis leans on hardest, particularly in the cutaway and motorhome builds. The manual covers both directly: driveline procedures and specifications for the 6.6L diesel and the 8.1L gasoline V8, suspension service and adjustment procedures for the chassis, and the torque values and diagnostic steps that belong to each.
