Known issues on the 2002 ML55 AMG. The 2002 ML55 AMG has one recall of its own: certain vehicles were built with a left front upper control arm that might fall short of its strength specification and could break, and dealers replaced the arm. Separately, NHTSA filed five recalls against the 2002 M-Class line, including one for certain passenger vehicles whose seat belt chime stayed silent at startup if the driver had already buckled up, and one for certain vehicles equipped with Dunlop SP5000 tires that could separate between sidewall and tread. Two owner complaints concern this model's service brakes, and separately, five complaints were filed against the 2002 M-Class line.
