Known issues on the 2000 ML55 AMG. Just one owner complaint names the 2000 ML55 AMG, and it concerns the engine. Five recalls were filed against the 2000 M-Class line. Certain vehicles in that line were recalled because a power steering cooler hose clamp might not hold tightly enough, letting fluid seep out until steering assist faded. Certain passenger vehicles in the line also had a seat belt chime that sounded for about two seconds at ignition even with the driver's belt fastened, beyond what the federal standard allows.
