This factory service and repair manual for the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT documents three engines under one four-door sport utility body: a 6.0L overhead-valve V8 of 364 cubic inches, the 4.2L twin-cam inline-six of 256, and a 5.3L overhead-valve V8 of 325, all naturally aspirated on gasoline, in Base, LT and SS trim. Known issues on the 2002 Trailblazer EXT. Three recalls stand on the federal record for this year, and all three begin with water, salt or vibration. In one, road splash and salt corrode a rear side door latch until it will not latch or release, and a door believed shut can open while the vehicle is moving. In another, heat and vibration loosen a tail lamp and stop lamp bulb in its socket until the lamp quits. The third covers wiper modules that water can short or corrode, leaving the windshield uncleared. Of 1,283 complaints, 299 name the power train and 143 the engine and cooling, both diagnosed here.
