Known issues on the 2001 CL55 AMG. NHTSA filed five recalls against wider groups. Four cover the 2001 CL-Class line: on certain of those cars, humidity could corrode the steel inner layers of the Active Body Control high-pressure hose until hydraulic fluid leaked onto hot parts near the catalytic converter, a fire risk, and on certain others the instrument cluster could lose illumination. The fifth, for certain 2001 C215-chassis models with ABC sensors mounted at the front struts, involved faulty solder joints that could leave the front suspension uneven. Owners filed three complaints on the 2001 CL55 AMG, two electrical, and four on the 2001 CL-Class line; the suspension diagnostics and wiring diagrams here apply.
