Certain 2001 Town Car vehicles fitted with a restraint control module of a new design could fail to recognize some system faults and fire an air bag or belt pretensioner during the start-up self-test; dealers replaced the module. On certain 2001 Town Car vehicles, the module or a front or side crash sensor might be missing circuit board screws, weakening restraint performance. Certain 2001 Town Car vehicles built in a stated window with TRW-supplied belts could have front outboard buckles that did not fully latch.
