On certain 1992 Town Car vehicles, the speed control deactivation switch could leak internally or develop a resistive short, then overheat and start an underhood fire, even with the engine off; the short could also knock out cruise control or blow the brake light fuse. Certain 1992 Town Car vehicles also had a secondary hood latch that might not catch when the hood was shut.
