Known issues on the 2001 750iL. Four recalls sit on the federal record, two of them describing the same failure: the electronically controlled auxiliary cooling fan, whose control unit circuitry can overload and quit when the fan motor fails, stopping the fan, overheating the engine and, at worst, starting a fire at the control unit itself. A third covers replacement steering drag links that can shear off at the shaft, costing the driver control of the car.
