Known issues on the 1999 C6500 Kodiak. Four recalls are recorded for this year. One follows the antilock pattern, where chafed wheel speed sensor wiring or a damaged wheel-end component produces an erratic signal, the controller exhausts air at the modulators, and the truck takes longer to stop. Another has transmission fluid escaping a heat-degraded cooler hose onto the exhaust, where it can start a fire. A third involves shift cable end rods crimped below specification, letting the cable pull free so the driver cannot select gears. One complaint, on steering, completes the record.
