Known issues on the 1998 Cirrus. On the federal side, three recall campaigns name the 1998 Cirrus. On certain cars, the right rear brake tube could rub against an exhaust clamp, wear through and leak, reducing braking on one of the two diagonal brake circuits and lengthening stops; dealers replace a marked tube or clip it clear. Certain cars with an automatic had a shifter cable adjustment that could break a connecting pin and leave the ignition-park interlock inoperative. Owners lodged 69 complaints, with the electrical system and power train at 11 each and engine and engine cooling at 9. A crash, a fire and an injury were each reported in 3 of those complaints.
