Known issues on the 1996 Talon. NHTSA records 4 recalls and 44 complaints for the 1996 Talon. In one, certain 1996 Talon vehicles could have front lower ball joints whose rubber boots were damaged during assembly, admitting dirt and water until the joint could separate; dealers inspected the boots and replaced the arm and joint when a boot was damaged. A second covered certain cars in which fuel tank gaskets might have been installed incorrectly and could release fuel or vapor, a fire hazard near an ignition source, and dealers replaced the tank, caps and gaskets if leaks were found.
