This factory service and repair manual for the 1995 Mercury Tracer works across a two-engine, two-body catalog: a 1.8L inline-four of 112 cubic inches with double overhead cams and a 1.9L of 116 with a single cam, both naturally aspirated and gasoline-fueled, in a four-door sedan or a four-door wagon wearing Base, LS, LTS or Trio badging. Procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are organized by system, so a job on the 1.9L never sends the technician through the twin-cam figures by mistake.

Known issues on the 1995 Tracer. The federal record carries three recalls. Two of them cover cracks that can form in the fuel tank near the heat shield attachment; where a crack goes all the way through the tank wall, fuel escapes and can find an ignition source. The third is the driver's air bag inflator canister, whose weak weld seam can separate in a crash so the bag does not inflate properly and hot gas is expelled at the steering wheel. Complaints reach 112, heavily concentrated on the fuel system at 38, then engine and cooling at 16 and seat belts at 10.
