1991 Mercury Tracer Service and Repair Manual

This factory service and repair manual for the 1991 Mercury Tracer carries a wider brief than the books before it. Two engines have to be kept straight, a twin-cam 1.8L inline-four of 112 cubic inches and a single-cam 1.9L of 116, both naturally aspirated and gasoline-fed, and they go into a four-door sedan or a four-door wagon sold in four trims: Base, LS, LTS and Trio. Known issues on the 1991 Tracer. Three recalls are on the federal record. Roll pins holding the ignition lock in the steering column can shift or separate, letting the lock cylinder come loose and the column bind, with the driver losing control of the car. A front suspension toe adjusting pin can fracture under flexing, impact or over-torque, costing steering control the same way. The third is a fatigue crack in the solder joint at the fuel pump sending unit, which lets vapor and a little fuel escape from a full tank. Of 67 complaints, the electrical system leads with 19, then the fuel system at 13 and seat belts at 10.
