In certain 1994 Achieva vehicles, holding the key in start while the starter failed to engage sent heavy current through the ignition switch, which could overheat and melt, risking a fire in the steering column; dealers added a relay kit. The second covered certain 1994 Achieva passenger vehicles, 1,681 of them, whose rear compartment pan welds were too weak to meet fuel system integrity rules in a rear impact, raising fire risk; rivets were added.
