Known issues on the 1993 Achieva. The federal record shows one recall for the 1993 Achieva. It applied to certain 1993 Achieva passenger cars with automatic transaxles, where the neutral start safety switch may have cracked when it was installed; the car could then refuse to start or, worse, start in gear and move unexpectedly. The recall covered 1,103 vehicles, and dealers replaced the switch and checked the transaxle's manual switch for an oversized condition. Owners logged 38 complaints, 12 of them on hydraulic service brakes and 8 on engine and engine cooling. Five complaints reported a crash, 2 a fire and 1 an injury.
