Known issues on the 1994 Dakota. Three recalls are recorded. On certain four-wheel-drive trucks, upper control arm bolts that were not heat-treated correctly could snap, costing steering control; 1,500 vehicles were covered and the bolts were replaced. Certain trucks had fuel tank strap studs left under-tightened, so a strap could let go and the tank could shift or drop, leaking fuel; that recall covered 9,000 vehicles. On certain trucks, spare keys could catch in the steering wheel's rear cover during a turn. Of 166 complaints, the power train leads with 25; 33 reported a crash and 2 a death.
